December 31, 2002:
Well, it's the last day of the year, and I'm hoping all the people
working at Yee's are hangin' in there (just a few more hours, you can do it!) Sure wish I could be there to help you guys
out! :) I couldn't decide what to do for my final entry
of 2002 so I'll just say that this year has been a very busy year
for all of us. Memories of the boys graduating preschool, trips to
Disneyland, Boston, and Cali (wedding), saying good-bye to a good
friend and her family (they moved to San Jose), birthday parties and
holiday celebrations, kids having a blast in swimming class, Jarod
starting Kindergarten and the soccer team, and my taking fun classes
like massage and yoga at a local college. It's been a
great year and I just wanted to thank all my friends (old and new) and
my family for
their support and love. Despite the distance, you'll always be
in my heart. Gosh I'm getting a bit mushy-gushy
here, so I'll just wish everyone a very happy and
prosperous New Year! See y'all in 2003 !

December 25, 2002:
From all of us to all of you, have a very merry Christmas and Happy
New Year! Many thanks to all those who sent gifts and cards
and happy greetings! We had a wonderful time opening all the
presents this morning and indulging ourselves in some memorable x-mas
fun. And... for our x-mas lunch we dined on turkey
& ham, mashed potatoes, candied yams, buttered broccoli, and
mini corn muffins & x-mas cookies. We are beyond
stuffed! :)

Merry
Christmas to All !
December 11, 2002:
Where does the time go? Let's re-cap... We stuffed ourselves
silly on Turkey Day last month... (DJ has the pics to prove
it) After our feast we took a nice leisurely walk around the
neighborhood (it was in the mid 60's, wow!) and it was relaxing,
just hanging out for the day. We really lucked out in the
weather dept this year. In fact, this week is the first full
week of steady RAIN. Ugh. I wish I could include
"fluffy white snow" to my personal x-mas list. Oh
well. While the boys were off in school, I've managed to do a
little x-mas shopping on my own. Tee-hee! That was so
much fun! :) Here's a random pic of us sitting in our
living room:
November 4, 2002:
Hi everyone! Happy November! Halloween came and went and
we all had a blast! The biggest Halloween treat for the boys
was walking around the neighborhood with Grandpa. (he was
visiting for a couple days.) They got tons of candy to last
them for the rest of the year! I'll let you know when the pics
are up, but til then, here's a quick picture of our costumes:
October 16, 2002:
It's the middle of October, isn't it? Last time I checked, it
was summertime. Yesterday was the first day of the boys'
swimming class, level 1.5, and they're loving every minute of
it. In fact, one of Jarod's friend from Kindergarten is also
in the class with them. Speaking of school, it's going very
well for both of them. They're slowly making new friends and
I'm really impressed with how well they've adjusted to school.
Yesterday, Patrick went on his first field trip to a pumpkin
patch. I went as a chaperone and we ended up picking three
little pumpkins to be carved for Halloween. Oh, and the boys
want me to mention what they'll be for Halloween. Patrick's
going to be a "scary" green dinosaur (quite adorable if
you ask me, but don't tell him I said that!) and Jarod's going
to be the Grim Reaper. I tried my best to dissuade him but
it's what he really, really, really, really, really wanted to
be. My son, the Angel of Death, heh. My mom would freak
out... And, finally as for myself, I'm keeping busy with all
the kids' school stuff, PTA volunteering, working part-time as a
classroom assistant, fundraisers for preschool and kindergarten,
keeping up with my art stuff, and chauffeuring the kids all over the
place from soccer practice to play dates with their little
friends. However, every once in a while. I try to do something
for myself (you kinda have to, else you'd go nutso...) and so
this Thursday, I'll be going to a Creed concert here at the Rose
Garden. The last time I went to a live concert was to see
Billy Joel in '93 (?). Needless to say, it's been a
while. I can't wait! It should be fun! More
later...

September 5, 2002:
It's the start of a brand-new school year for the boys!
Jarod's first day of Kindergarten was yesterday and he took the
school bus all by himself for the very first time! I'm so
proud of him! And today was Patrick's first day of preschool
and he also handled it like a pro! He walked in and said 'bye'
to me and he was already off playing before I was out the
door. I think I'm the one with separation anxiety, not the
kids. There's been tons of news of late that I haven't
been able to update yet. We just got back from a mini-vacation
to California to one of DJ's good friend's wedding on a cruise,
which was fun, btw, and since we were less than 1/2 hour from
Disneyland, well, we took the kids there, AGAIN! Yeah, they're
spoiled! :P We also spent a day @ Knott's Berry Farm,
kinda like a Six Flags. Hm, what else is new? OH, the
boys graduated from their swim class at the end of last month.
I'll be putting them back in swimming classes in October.
Jarod's also joined the junior soccer league through the school
district. He seems to be having fun with that as well.
I'll try to put up some new links, and pics, and more updates later!
August 12, 2002:
Happy Birthday Patrick Munchie! Today, Patrick is officially a
big 4 years old! We had a birthday party for him and his
friends at Papa's
Pizza Parlor yesterday. Hopefully DJ will have the pics up
soon on his site! :)
July 30, 2002:
I'm back! Anyone miss me?!? It's been over a month and a
half since I've done this. I have an excuse. I was
vacationing in Boston, MA for the past month and now that I'm
back, I've finally gotten off my lazy butt to put in at least one
July entry. Hm, where to start? The trip to Boston was
such a blast! We got to see all of our friends and relatives,
and I'm missing them already! Thank you, thank you to everyone
back in Boston for making our trip out there truly amazing.
I'll write up a separate page about my Boston experiences when I get
a chance. For now, I'll just update everyone on what we're all
doing right now. The boys just finished up with their summer
camp @ CCC
last week. And then starting next week, they will be taking
swimming classes at Sunset
Swim Center. They are going to have a super time learning
how to swim! They're giddy with excitement and so am I!
:)
June 14, 2002:
Well, well, well... It's the middle of June and it's been ages since
I've updated my journal. My bad. Well, here's a quick
run-down on the events that's happened since I last
wrote. The boys graduated from preschool during the last
week in May. Jarod will be moving onto Kindergarten while
Patrick graduates to the 4-year-old preschool classroom
in the Fall. Since the kids are done with school I've tried to
keep them busy with playdates, and trips to the Children's
Museum, the Oregon Zoo,
and most recently The
Waterfront Village. And this past weekend, Jarod turned 5
years old! We threw a big birthday party and everything for
him! He's growing up so fast! ::sniff,sniff::
Many, many THANKS to everyone that sent wonderful birthday wishes to
him. Last but not least, the most exciting news is that we
will be going back to Boston Massachusetts for an extended visit
!!!! I can't wait to see everyone again! It's been way
too long! Hope to see you all soon!!! :)
May 23, 2002:
Gosh, I can't believe it's almost the end of May. Sheesh, time
flies or I'm just too lazy to update my website. Anyhoo, click
here to read all about our trip
down to Disneyland.
May 1, 2002: Just
wanna wish my doggie, Mickey, a very happy 12th b'day!!!
April 30, 2002:
Oh my goodness, it's the end of April! Argh! Lots to
tell and not enough time to type it all up. But let me tell ya,
the most exciting highlight for the month of April is a family trip
to.... you guessed it, DISNEYLAND!
One thrilling week at Disneyland!!! I promise to write about
it very, very soon! :)
April 14, 2002:
Except for the rain, today was a pretty good day for me and the
kiddies. They went to this fantastic Creativity Fair
sponsored by their preschool, The
Creative Children's Center. We met up with a couple of my
friends and their daughter (one of Jarod and Patrick's playmates)
and spent the day making cool arts and crafts activities.. By
the time we were done there, we were STARVING, and so we
headed over the The Spaghetti Factory
for lunch. Let me tell ya, they make the best spinach and
cheese raviolis I've ever tasted. Yum!
April 7, 2002:
Yup, it's been a while. Spring break was pretty fun for the
kiddies, trips to the park, the zoo, play dates with their little
friends, and a couple of Easter egg hunts during the past
weekend. I took a couple rolls of pictures but I'm notorious
for not getting them developed, so you'll just have to wait.
:) Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, I've just registered
Jarod for kindergarten this week. Next month will be his first
kindergarten orientation! The chibbles are growing
up! *sigh*
March 23, 2002:
I went to the movies this week and saw, "A Beautiful
Mind." Fantastic movie! You should go see it if it's
still in theaters near you. The boys are on Spring Break next
week so I'll probably have to think of something to occupy their
time. I took some pictures of the kids at their little
friend's 5th birthday party but I'm too lazy to go develop them and
post them to the web. It's too sunny of a day to stay
inside so I'm going to go out and enjoy the weather.
March 18, 2002:
I spent a good portion of my morning editing and updating my
website. I finally have a guest book up and running!!!
Yippee!!! Now, you don't have any excuse _not_ to sign
it! And you better, or I'll hunt you down!!! :P
I skipped breakfast and now I'm starving... gotta go eat
lunch!
March 10, 2002:
Don't mind me, I'm just going to vent. Just when I thought the
munchkins were getting better, they come down with some more
infections and illnesses. Fun, fun, fun. Last month
Patrick came down with a bad case of the flu but
he was a trooper through it all. Then, we had to bring him in again
last week because we suspected he had conjunctivitis (which he
did). Upon listening to his rattling breathing, the doctor
said it sounded like he had walking pneumonia (wasn't too serious
but serious enough to warrant another round of antibiotics.)
Ugh...
As for Jarod, he came down with bronchitis last month but with a
round of cephalexin he got better... well, till today. Today,
the poor kid wakes up with his eyes sealed shut from all this dry
and crusty mucous discharge. Yup, you guessed it. He
also has conjunctivitis. Another exciting trip to the
doctor's. (by now, me and the doc are on a first name basis...
j/k) I was hoping to just pick up some eye drops and be on my
merry way but that wasn't meant to be. Bottom line, Jarod has
an adenovirus infection which spread to his ears, nose, eyes and
throat. The ear infection and the conjunctivitis (as well as
croupy cough and stuffy/runny nose) were secondary
complications. Woo-hoo! Jarod's gets to go on
another round of antibiotics, and this time it's ---drum roll,
please--- augmentin. I bet the day just can't get any
worst ... hold on to your seats, folks, cause it does...
*sigh* After taking two sick kids to the doc's in the rain @ 9
in the morning, we went across the street to the drug store to pick
up the prescription. While in the store, the power goes
out due to the storm. Not once, not twice, but 4
times... ***need coffee*** After spending an hour in the
store, we're finally home... ***need chocolate***
:P
March 1, 2002:
Wow! I can't believe it's March already! Today is an
absolutely gorgeous day, albeit a bit too windy for my taste.
Last weekend we went to a fun kid's restaurant called Papa's Pizza
Palace. It's similar to Chuck E. Cheese's but smaller.
The cool thing is that they had a miniature Ferris wheel and
merry-go-round inside the establishment. The following
night, the boys finally treated me to my belated birthday lobster dinner at Red
Lobster. All I can say is, YUM!
February 15, 2002:
I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day and a prosperous Chinese
New Year's! For V-day I cooked a super-duper dinner
consisting of rib-eye steaks, red potatoes, garlic asparagus and
pasta. For dessert, DJ made a delicious sour
cream cheesecake from scratch! (and people thought he
couldn't cook!) j/k! The boys have been sick for the
past couple of weeks but they're finally getting better. It's
been frustrating being cooped up inside the house but this weekend's
supposed to be nice and sunny. If the kids feel up to
it, we might go downtown and catch some Chinese New Year festivities
at Portland's Chinese
Classical Garden. That's about it so, TTFN!
January 29, 2002:
For all of you who sent me birthday cards and e-cards and
such, I thank you from the bottom of my
heart. :) I had a nice, quiet b'day at home with the
kiddies. Initially, DJ and the boys were planning to take me
out to dinner but the plans were scrapped when one of the kiddies
came down with a fever. On to plan 2. We order in and
the boys "surprised" me by baking a yummy birthday cake!
(with a little assistance from daddy, of course) Here's a
grainy picture taken by the webcam as they put the finishing touches
on my cake.
January 20, 2002: I'm
listening to Abba's "Dancing Queen". Yesterday, DJ
surprised us with a day trip to Salem, OR (the capital). We
all hopped into the car and away we went. Once we got there,
we had to make a pit stop at Mickey D's for lunch and then we went
to this place called A.C.
Gilbert's Discovery Village. This place is
like a cross between a gigantic playground and museum and historic
center. The kids had an awesome time there (the grown-ups had
a little fun, too!) The highlight was this dark scary 3-story
spiral slide that went on and on until you shot out into the light
at the end of the tunnel. It's fun being a kid again...
January 10, 2002: The
boys are back in preschool and I'm back in the classroom as
well. Oh, yesterday we took a trip to the Children's
Museum. It was so much fun that we spent three hours going
from exhibit to exhibit. We would have stayed even longer
had the kids not dump a bucket of water on themselves at the H2O
exhibit. I wish I had brought my camera, the pics would have
been priceless, oh well... :)
January
1, 2002: Happy New Years Day! We spent it at home with
a couple of friends, watching a movie, mixing drinks and conducting a
double-blind taste-testing experiment on bottles of champagne.
Yum! The overall favorite was the Beaumet Cuvee
Brut. Sitting by a roaring fire, sipping champagne, nibbling
chocolate biscotti and hanging out with friends... it was fun!
Hope y'all had a good one!
